Hello, I’m Gavin, a registered hypnotherapist specialising in cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and unlock their full potential by overcoming self-doubt, fear of failure, and limiting beliefs. My guiding principle, “I am good enough is more than good enough,” reflects my commitment to helping clients develop self-acceptance as a powerful foundation for personal growth, confidence, and success.

My Approach to Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

Unlike traditional hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is an evidence-based approach that combines hypnosis with cognitive and behavioural techniques. This means that rather than just addressing symptoms, I work with you to explore the underlying thought patterns and behaviours that may be holding you back. Through guided hypnosis, cognitive restructuring, and practical exercises, I help you develop new, empowering ways of thinking that allow you to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and ease.

Whether you’re struggling with imposter syndrome, performance anxiety, fear of judgment, or a lack of self-belief, my goal is to provide you with the tools to break free from negative cycles and take control of your mindset. Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is particularly effective in helping individuals reframe past experiences, reduce anxiety, and develop resilience.

My Background and Experience

Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I trained as an actor and voice artist, giving me a deep understanding of creativity, self-expression, and the pressures of performing at your best. I know what it’s like to struggle with stage fright, self-doubt, and the need to prove yourself in high-stakes situations. I also understand how these challenges don’t just apply to performers—anyone can experience imposter syndrome and performance anxiety in their personal or professional life.

Alongside my work as an actor, I spent over 25 years in branding and communications, working with large multinational financial service companies. This experience has given me valuable insight into the high-performance expectations of corporate environments and the mindset challenges professionals often face. Whether you’re navigating leadership stress, career transitions, or the pressure to constantly perform at a high level, I can help you develop the confidence and mental clarity needed to excel.

Who I Work With

I work with a diverse range of clients, from actors, creatives, and business professionals to individuals navigating personal and professional challenges. Many of my clients come to me because they feel stuck—whether in their careers, relationships, or personal growth. Others seek help for overcoming fears, building self-esteem, or creating lasting behavioural change.

As an advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion, I am passionate about creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Too often, we internalise societal messages that tell us we are not enough, that we need to be someone else to succeed. I help my clients challenge these limiting beliefs and embrace their strengths. Whether you’re confronting internalised doubts, navigating identity challenges, or looking to step into your full potential with confidence, I am here to support you.

How Hypnotherapy Can Help You

Using cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, I tailor my approach to your unique needs. Through a combination of hypnosis, guided visualisation, cognitive techniques, and practical exercises, I help you:

  • Reframe negative thought patterns
  • Build confidence and self-belief
  • Reduce anxiety and performance-related stress
  • Develop resilience and emotional regulation
  • Overcome fears and limiting beliefs
  • Navigate career challenges and imposter syndrome

Hypnotherapy isn’t about changing who you are—you are more than good enough. Hypnotherapy helps you recognise and change the negative thoughts and habits that are holding you back from connecting with the best version of yourself.

Many people think of hypnosis as something mysterious or out of their control, but in reality, it is a focused, deeply relaxed state that allows you to access the subconscious mind and create lasting, positive change.

Take the First Step

I believe that a strong connection between therapist and client is essential for successful therapy. That’s why I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute consultation—a chance for us to discuss your goals, explore how cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy can help, and see if we’re a good fit to work together.

If you’re ready to unlock your full potential, overcome the barriers holding you back, and create meaningful change, let’s talk.

I worked with Gavin over six sessions and he provided a calm focused environment for me to address my issue.  He allowed me to see various connections in my life and gave me a belief that I could have some level of control.  The recorded sessions that I was able to work with, in between each session, gave me a daily focus, and we made incredible strides in a very short time.  I would highly recommend Gavin and Thought Compass if you’re looking to change direction.
