hypnotherapy for authenticity, presence, and creative freedom
Welcome to Thought Compass. I offer hypnotherapy for performance anxiety, helping you explore the unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding you back. Together we can work through performance anxiety, imposter syndrome, self-doubt and social anxiety in a way that feels manageable, one step at a time.
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy brings together the structure of cognitive behavioural therapy and the depth of hypnotherapy – evidence-based, not mystical.
How would it be to understand your mind a little better – and have the tools to change it?
Who I work with
I work with people who feel the weight of being watched or judged. In life, we are always performing, in one way or another. At work, perhaps, feeling like an imposter, quietly afraid of being found out. As LGBTQ+ people, forever balancing the truth of an inner life against a world that isn’t always accepting. Or many other ways in everyday life, where it can feel like we’re playing a part we never auditioned for.
For Actors & Performers
Performance anxiety can make you feel like an understudy, even in your own life. For performers and creatives, that’s not just a feeling — it’s the literal shape of the job. When the spotlight hits, why does your presence disappear? Discover how hypnotherapy for performance anxiety can help you rein in your inner critic, tame stage fright, and reclaim your authentic presence on stage and in the audition room.

find your path, navigate your choices
Every crossroads brings possibilities, but the right choice is the one that feels true to you.
Our work starts at a crossroads: take the path you always take, it feels safe, familiar – even if it never quite gets you where you want to go. Or choose a new path: the destination is clear, but the way there is uncertain, and asks for presence and curiosity rather than the certainty of familiarity.
Staying on the familiar path can feel like performing the same play, but with the wrong lines.
This is where the work happens – working together, in session, and out in the real world, building a plan you carry with you. My aim is to give you tools that are genuinely yours, so that eventually, you don’t need me at all.
What I can support you with
Thought Compass offers online cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy and stress management coaching for adults. I work with issues such as performance anxiety, stage fright, audition nerves, imposter thoughts, self-doubt, workplace stress, public speaking, body image & self-confidence, social anxiety, shame, and habit change.
My work is collaborative and practical, drawing on cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, stress management and resilience building. It is not a substitute for emergency support, medical treatment, diagnosis or psychiatric care.
If your needs fall outside my scope of practice, I will discuss this with you openly and, where appropriate, suggest that you contact your GP, NHS 111, a crisis team, the Samaritans, or another suitably qualified professional.

What was evident throughout was Gavin’s ability to be positive when it was needed and to see the bigger picture when I was obsessing on finer details and what I considered to be a lack of progress (it wasn’t, it was just my inability to see it). Gavin gave positive feedback throughout and listened intently and was able to see a path through it and how to turn it into a plan for progress.
